Friday Blog: Ruff's Stuff

Continuing the Twitter #FF tradition (that's Follow Friday not Fist Fuck) I bring you this week's Friday blog. I have been a fan of Ruff ever since I first encountered his profile way way back on the original LeatherNavigator site (sadly now long gone).

Ruff maintains a great blog that is a mix of news, events, hot pics, hot video's, and information. He has also been known to sell some of his gear on eBay, and of course shares the relevant details with his readers!

Now living in Chicago he is a great supporter of many wonderful organisations, and you can occasionally see him pop-up on several of their websites - Leather Archives & Museum being one. Occasional model and member of staff at one of best link stores ... Mr S Leather in San Francisco. Where I very briefly bumped into him, as charming and friendly as you would expect.

So if you're looking for a new blog to read then make sure you add

I didn't realise at first who was in this picture when I took it, but if you click on it to make it grow you can see the force with which the flogger is striking! It is really quite spectacular, I'm also really impressed I managed to get it timed so well!

Count Cockula

It had to happen! With the current fixation with Vampires it wasn't going to take long for the sex industry to follow. So you can now get your very own fangtastic Count Cockula from Fleshjack!

Woof: Tom of Finland - Pleasure Park

For Christmas my husband bought me the above, a bottle of Etat Libre D'Orange the Tom of Finland Eau d'Perfume. I am usually very fussy with such products, this is only the third or fourth that I actually like enough to own. Out of the hundreds available, that is quite impressive.

Oh I know that some Leathermen will be up in arms ... the thought of aftershave or deodorant sends them running screaming - usually quite literally. Takes a real man to smell this good! :D

Anyway, in celebration of this I thought I'd also share some of the artwork from Tom of Finland.

Friday Blog: IML 2003

This week's Friday Blog isn't technically a 'blog', but the site is so good and regularly updated I felt it warranted inclusion here. It is the site of the 2003 International Mr Leather - John Pendal. John is the only Brit to have won the title, and he has and continues to put it to so much good use.

I have had the pleasure of meeting John on several occasions, and attended some of his talks. He is incredibly knowledgeable, skilful and passionate. If you ever have the opportunity to see him at one of his many engagements around the world I would definitely recommend you go.

John also maintains an excellent guide to Fetish London, that anyone visiting the city should definately read!

Hello Kitty!

I've never really got the whole 'pants' thing, go into a gay lifestyle shop and you will find hundreds of styles, cuts, designs, designers and more then enough people to spend a fortune on them!

But the latest amused me ... pants from Hello Kitty!

Stories From The Quilt

The AIDS Memorial Quilt celebrates the lives of real people who were loved and lost to HIV/AIDS. They are each remembered on a stretch of fabric called a panel. The website offers a closer look at one of the 47,000 panels that comprise the ever-growing AIDS Memorial Quilt.

Dana Phillips (Block 5737)

"If this panel could speak, this panel, made for Dana Phillips, would HOWL! The cry would be a mixture of joy and pain and passion and longing and loneliness, like Dana himself. He would be telling people to wake up, experience each day, and enjoy life while they still can, because it really doesn't last forever.

This panel is Dana's HOWL! - my attempt to express who he was and all he wanted to be and do and everything he lost. It is my HOWL! - because my friend is gone forever and I miss talking to him, laughing with him, and remembering our good times together."

Friday Blog: Ben in Leather Land

This week's Friday Blog is of a rather charming and lovely young boy (and a kinky little pig) who goes by the name of Ben. He describes his journal as:
A public journal of the thoughts and experiences of a young boy trying to find his way through a leather labyrinth.
Ben in Leather Land is a fascinating read, as it really is charting his journey of sexual discovery and exploration. I read a very interesting fact the other week that I remembered while thinking about Ben's blog. I am part of the last generation to know life before the Internet, all future generations that follow will have always had E-Mail, the Web. And the easy access to such knowledge, education and of course porn!

And Ben is probably one of the first generations to grow up and discover the world with the aid of the Internet. When I was coming out the Internet was still in its infancy, but there was enough out there to guide me from Narnia and out of the closet into the real world!

Its quite interesting, if you got back to the first entry he is talking about using the resources available to you to explore your sexuality. And of course for most people this comes from the Internet, and blogs like his.

Another great aspect to Ben's blog is both his age and attitude, he is fast becoming a rather talented Top. One of his latest entries talks about the possibility of him becoming a junior partner in the New York Bondage Club, to help out and provide demonstrations. I'm think the attitude and looks on of some of the older generations, even old guard, seeing this young 22 year old tieing people up with such skill would be a great picture.

Woof: Signed Ulli Richter Prints for Sale

There was a time when London had one of the best shops in the world! A coffee shop, that also served amazing cakes and also had some of the best Kink exhibitions and gifts & books for sale while you ate and munched.

That shop was called, and this is an inspired name - Coffee, Cake and Kink.

Unfortunately, the coffee shop had to close - but do not despair they are working very hard to open again soon. And many of the great products they had are still available on their website. Including signed prints from Ulli Richter himself. Below is a small selection, but you should definitely check out the full range and make a purchase or two.

CCK has been known to push the boundaries a bit, and lead from the front. Several of the prints come from:
a 2005 Coffee, Cake & Kink exhibition ('first SM gay exhibition in London in 20 years' as we were told). We managed not to get closed down (and had three council/police visits on account of sticking our neck out!).

Woof: Cock & Arse

Because it's Friday and its a rather yummy picture!!

Friday Blog: Tony Buff

This week's Friday Blog is that of someone I have come to admire, greatly respect and look up to.
Tony Buff is well known for his porn work, his leather family, his website / blog, his twitter, his activism, his amazing rope-work and his desire to give so much to a community. With such a large leather family, and with so much that he does it is hard not to be impressed! In a recent blog post he describes himself as:
"The truth is I am a player, educator and activist in the fetish/Sm community. I have been all these things, at least to some extent, for the past twenty years. For me, performing in the adult industry is just an extension and expansion of those roles."
I have never had the pleasure of meeting Tony - though I did see him and his boy Derek da Silva at Folsom Street this year. They were both shorter then I expected.

Tony's blog is a great read because it is that - a read! He takes a serious amount of time and effort to craft and write his entries, ranging from a new DVD release to his views on Bareback porn.

If you are looking for something that has a very strong sexual, kinky, leather edge to it but is more then a porn blog you should most definately add Tony's blog to your own Blogroll.

The Hoist & The Hoist Basements

So when someone mentions a Hoist do you immediately reach for your copy of Hoist Magazine on the coffee table, or do you glaze over briefly thinking of other more kinky things?

Since your reading my blog I'm going assume it is the later. Despite working in London for many years I never really spent that much time on the fetish scene in London, but then I wasn't that confident / interested in exploring it that much at the time. Though I did pay a few visits to SM Gays which were always enjoyable.

I think in 2010 I should try out a few more kinky events, nights and clubs. :)

While thinking about this the other evening I was checking out the website of The Hoist, and of course they have a link there to their latest venture ... a little further from the arches in Berlin:

The basement areas of the apartments look really good, nice rough industrial look and feel. I'm not so sure about the upstairs though personally ... I still like a bit of luxury! If only Mandarin Orientals did Dungeon's as well as Spa's!

If you fancy your very own private Berlin Dungeon you can talk to the guy who put these together yourself!

I have to admit it ... I think Kilts are awesome! They look fantastic, and are incredibly comfortable to wear, below is a pic of me in my Black Watch kilt at Sydney Mardi Gras back in 2006 (has it been that long?)

I chat to loads of people who like the look of a Kilt, but don't feel confident / comfortable enough to buy one. Guys ... just do it! :o)

For a while now I have been thinking of getting a new "Urban" kilt. Essentially a modern style kilt with pockets! The problem has been which one, there are so many to choose from. Here are my current fave three.

Desk jockeys need not apply. The Workman’s is the ultimate utility kilt–our flagship model built for long, hard days on the work site building cool stuff that would make any pants-loving wimp cry.

We can see you now, out there on the job site, headbanging to Slayer, your mullet hanging down to your shoulders, a big honking drill in one hand, a cold beer in the other and all your pants-wearing co-workers sweating their asses off and wondering how you got so damn cool.

Smart casual very nice Kilt, with two front and two back pockets.

2.5 inch waistband with belt loops all around, and 3 sets of snap studs, left and right side and also centre to stop the centre hanging down, full front apron and full front under apron, so you wont show anything in the wind.
Features a single panel insert of Pride fabric (available in Leather Pride, GLBT Pride and Bear Pride) and a double cargo pocket on the left hand side. This kilt also have silver D-rings on the 2" belt loops and a brush metal key clip. For ease of upkeep, the kilt is made of 100% cotton but can also be done in full leather.
Must admit, very torn between the Workmans and the Pride kilts, both are great and both are a bit more made to measure, so fit slightly better and the length is right for your legs. Decisions, decisions! Both are American, so no rush as the cheapest way to get them is to time them with a visit to the States to avoid getting stuffed on postage!

Friday Blog: Hardwired Submissive Man

A very different shift in my selection this week. And a very frank and open blog that I imagine a lot of people can relate to.

The first thing about this blog that is very different to all the ones in my blog roll and Follow Friday Blogs ... it is written by a heterosexual male! His profile has a very telling sentance, that I think a lot of people may experience going though a second Coming Out ... the kinky one:
In the last 10 plus years, i've discovered that my kinky wiring doesn't make me broken, just different.
He is in a relationship "with an absolutely beautiful vanilla woman" but finds his submissive side too powerful a pull to ignore. The blog is about his exploration of sexuality, and also how they make it work for their relationship. The blog hasn't been updated since August 2009, but the archive makes a fantastic and hugely interesting read which is why I've included it here.
